I do however, set achievable goals for the year. For example, in the past, I have set a goal to hike 500 miles, among others.
This year, I have a few goals, and I am excited about them! Mostly, because I am taking care of myself, regardless of what chaos reigns around me. (more on that another time)
- Join the local Swim Club
- I am stoked about this one! Something that I have wanted to do since we moved here. Being a lover of water, and former swim team member, It is a great way to stay fit and get zen.
2. Accrue swim things: suit, cap, goggles, jacket
- This one I have already achieved. Somewhat. They are in the mail. (Doug is getting them for my birthday!) I needed a one piece suit, good goggles for laps, got some cool caps, and a nice jacket since our pool is outdoors.
3. Swim weekly
- a great way to unwind after work, AND, perhaps help me to deal with my chaos. Shooting for a couple nights a week.
4. Learn how to preserve my garden veggies
- I want to learn how to can! Need to preserve our bounty instead of giving it away or having it spoil. Sharing is good, but I want to save things for the winter months!
5. Order Veggie seeds
- I already have a list of what I need to order for planting. I just gotta do it!
6. Play tennis weekly
- We have a community court-2 really. Doug has rackets and a TON of tennis balls. This is something he can teach me.
7. Bike on weekends
- Until it stays lighter later, I am resigned to mountain biking on weekends and holidays, unless I happen to get home from work early enough to jump on the bike. And not every weekend.
8. Buy a new laptop
- Mine is about 4 years old and dying a slow death. Time to upgrade!
9. Buy a gun
- Thinking of having some home protection in these crazy times. Not sure yet. It would be cool for Doug and I to go to the shooting range and practice, etc.
10. Continue with my Self-Improvement
- This one has many parts: meditation, yoga, eating light, vegetarian, positivity, and attend weekly Al-Anon meetings, and have NO expectations.
So these are my goals for 2012, and I am really stoked about them.
